In the diamond dusk, in the twilight grey,
As the dusty seas of the moon sail clear
When the wisps of cloud are whisked away
On the edge of day as night draws near
I love this world as the lights turn on
That limn the streets with their beaded glow
And I want it to last for ever and yon
But that isn’t mine to know.
I fear the threats, and I fear for fate
And I try to hope, but it always seems
I am so small and the world so great
With its freight of people and dreams.
Yet thought will take light, and words will rhyme,
There will be books enough, and time.
